BATSTATEU ACTIVITIES WITH INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS 2019

COLLABORATION AND PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY AND EDU-CONNECT SOUTHEAST ASIA ASSOCIATION

Edu-Connect Southeast Asia Association, Kaohsiung visited Batangas State University on January 25, 2019 to explore opportunities for collaboration and partnership. The meeting was graced by delegates from Southern Taiwan Universities and Industries which took place at the Lecture Room, International Affairs Office, BatStateU Pablo Borbon Main I, Batangas City.

Said visit is part of the association’s objective to seek international university-industry linkages, educational collaborations, university social responsibility projects and research lab networking in Metro Manila and CALABARZON region. This aims to bond Taiwan and the Philippines together and soar higher through academic, educational and training collaborations.

 

SEMINAR ON INDUSTRY 4.0 BY MS. KIRSTEN DAVILA RIETH

Batangas State University conducted a seminar on Industry 4.0 with the theme, “Demystifying Industry 4.0- How Universities Can Participate?” on February 4, in preparation for its Strategic Plan 2019-2029. University junior and senior officials and members of the Faculty Confederation and Supreme Student Council Confederation gathered in the event held at the Lecture Room, International Affairs Office, BatStateU Pablo Borbon Main I, Batangas City.

RTI’s Director for Strategy and Innovation Ms. Kirsten Davila Rieth, served as the resource speaker of the event. She talked about the current manufacturing trends and imparted some important matters to consider before investing in Industry 4.0 technologies.

 

 

SIGNING OF MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH SHANGHAI UNIVERSITY OF ELECTRIC POWER FOR OVERSEAS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Batangas State University signed a memorandum of agreement with Shanghai University of Electric Power for Overseas Internship Program on May 27, 2019 at the Function Hall, CIRTC Building, BatStateU Pablo Borbon Main I, Batangas City.

Both parties have agreed to fulfill the motive of establishing an overseas internship program that will strengthen the bond between China and the Philippines. Said program will help nurture students through overseas internship/ job opportunities, and teaching condition and resources combining industry, study and research.

 

 

BATSTATEU ACTIVITIES WITH INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS 2018

 SPECIAL INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENT DELEGATE OF THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT OF BATANGAS CAPITOL

 To foster collaborations and partnerships with different stakeholders, Batangas State University welcomed representatives from the Special International Investment Delegate of the Provincial Government of Batangas Capitol on January 5 at the Lecture Room, International Affairs Office, 2nd floor, CITE Building, BatStateU Pablo Borbon Main I.The delegates consisted of officials from both local and international institutions. They were Mr. Hans Tan of 3F Summit Investment and Management Inc., Ms. Wang Jing of Mind and Mettle International Education Group (Singapore), Mr. Charles Cheng of Golden International Holdings (Singapore), Mr. Louis Shi of Lean Finder Consulting (Singapore), Mr. Yang Xian Zheng of Heayi Cultural and Creative Co Ltd (Italy), and Mr. Mike Guzman of Kaisa Heritage Center (Philippines).

As discussed, the possible collaboration will allow the University and its partner institutions to strengthen the conduct of international exchange programs which are catered to the faculty members, graduates, and students. These include employment of licensed BatStateU teachers who can teach English to Chinese students. In addition, the hired teachers will be learning Mandarin during their stay.

 

 

TAIPEI ECONOMIC AND CULTURAL OFFICE (TECO) PHILIPPINES

 Batangas State University hosted the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) meeting with the Region IV-A State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) Presidents, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) 4A Regional Director, and Philippine Society for Public Administration (PSPA) University of the Philippines-National College of Public Administration and Governance (UP-NCPAG) Executive Director at the 7th Floor of the CALABARZON Integrated Research and Training Center, BatStateU Pablo Borbon Main I on January 5, 2018. The meeting aimed to provide more scholarships, specifically for Filipino faculty members, to be able to pursue their higher studies in Taiwan universities.

TECO Director, Mr. Jerry Chuang, elucidated TECO’s Scholarship Program Offerings that according to him are intended for Filipinos who wish to pursue graduate school studies in Taiwan or for those who are willing to learn the Mandarin Language in the Republic of China. The said scholarship offerings include three programs, (1) Ministry of Education (MOE) Scholarship, (2) Huayu (Mandarin) Enrichment Scholarship and, (3) International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF).

SINGAPORE POLYTECHNIC’S LEARNING EXPRESS program

As part of Singapore Polytechnic’s (SP) General Education Program, its students underwent an Overseas Social Innovation Project with their BatStateU counterparts through SP’s Learning Express (LeX) Program on March 13-22, 2018. The 10-day program allowed the students to engage in livelihood and volunteer programs that enabled them to address the needs in the local communities while developing their academic skills using the Design Thinking Methodology.

The participants were able to visit the communities in Brgy. San Gregorio, Malvar, Batangas, Brgy. Catandaan, Nasugbu, Batangas, and Brgy. San Isidro, Rosario, Batangas where they conducted interviews, created a persona and craft persona’s needs statement and project statement, validated insights and needs, developed concepts, and co-created solutions to address the needs of communities using existing prototypes.

 

 

SEMINAR OF DR. SATOSHI KUBOTA FROM KOCHI UNIVERSITY IN JAPAN

Dr. Satoshi Kubota from Kochi University in Japan conducted a lecture on Marine Science last March 8, 2018 at the Multimedia Room, 7th floor, CIRTC Building, BatStateU Pablo Borbon Main I. Selected students from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and faculty members were invited to attend and learn from Dr. Kubota’s presentation on the Recent Coral Research Projects in Kochi University and its Facilities for Marine Research.

 

SIGNING OF MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY AND SHANGHAI UNIVERSITY OF ELECTRIC POWER AND SHANGHAI ELECTRIC POWER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY

To strengthen its academic consortium between various international academic organizations and institutions, Batangas State University, Shanghai University of Electric Power (SUEP) and Shanghai Electric Power Construction Company (SEPC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on July 9, 2018 at the Function Hall, 7th Floor, CIRTC Building, BatStateU Pablo Borbon Main I, Batangas City. The partnership intends to provide opportunities for faculty members and students to actively participate in educational programs and practices among the three organizations in the areas of academic, administrative and professional development.

The scope of activities indicated in the MOU includes, exchange of students for study and training programs, exchange of staff for research, lecture and discussion, exchange of academic information, research publication and other     resources, enrolment of suitable qualified students into appropriate programs for both undergraduate and postgraduate study, joint staff development programs, shared curriculum development activities, collaborative research, joint laboratory, internship/OJT (On Job Training) of the students, and employment of graduates.

 

SEMINAR ON INNOVATIVE UNIVERSITY GOVERNANCE WITH DR. TIM WU

Dr. Tim Wu, the Executive Director of Edu-Connect Southeast Asia Association in Kaohsiung, Taiwan served as the resource speaker of the seminar on Innovative University Governance on July 9, 2018 held at the Lecture Room, CITE Bldg. Pablo Borbon Main I.  The speaker shared his advocacy of building “Industry, City, University Entrepreneurship” linkages and taught them on how to create the proper mentality in achieving good governance. Senior and junior officials attended the event.

 

2018 ASEAN CONFERENCE AND EXPOSITION ON DISASTER RISK MANAGEMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION (ACEDRMCCA)

The ACTION Center or Adaptive Capacity-building and Technology Innovation for Occupational Hazards and Natural Disasters Center of Batangas State University (BatStateU) in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and National University of Kaohsiung, Taiwan (NUK) hosted the 2018 ASEAN Conference and Exposition on Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation (ACEDRMCCA) on July 25-27, 2018 with the theme, “Converging with the ASEAN Community in Managing Disaster Risks and Climate Change for a Resilient Community”. The event was held at BatStateU Pablo Borbon Main I, Batangas City, Batangas.

DRM officials, personnel, researchers and academicians convened to explore the recent developments, pragmatic solutions, and effective application of science and technology innovations in climate change adaptation and disaster preparedness and response.

 

PARTNERSHIP MEETING BETWEEN BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY NANYANG POLYTECHNIC, SINGAPORE

Batangas State University in cooperation with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region IV-A hosted a partnership meeting with the delegates from Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP), Singapore on August 1 at the Function Hall, 7th Floor, CIRTC Building, BatStateU Pablo Borbon Main I, Batangas City. The meeting was held to discuss the possible areas of collaboration focused on the involvement and development of the students and staff. It aims to create overseas opportunities for students and staff to work on applied research projects and for internships.

2018 TAIWAN EDUCATION FAIR 

Batangas State University (BatStateU) hosted the first ever Taiwan Education Fair on August 22, 2018 at the Gov. Feliciano “Sanoy” Leviste Multipurpose Memorial Gymnasium, BatStateU Pablo Borbon Main I, Batangas City. Different Taiwan universities showcased their programs, projects, services and best practices relevant to student and faculty development.

Among the participating universities include National Taiwan Normal University; National Tsing Hua University; Chihlee University of Technology; National Chiao Tung University; National Formosa University;  National Taiwan University; Minghsin University of Science and Technology; Tzu Chi University of Science and Technology; National Yunlin University of Science and Technology; Tzu Chi University; Fu Jen Catholic University; I-Shou University; China Medical University; National Dong Hwa University; WuFeng University; Kaohsiung Medical University; Chung Yuan Christian University; Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education of Taiwan (FICHET); and National Sun Yat-sen University.

 

3RD SINGAPORE POLYTECHNICLEARNING EXPRESS PROGRAM

 Singapore Polytechnic (SP), Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) and Batangas State University, for the third time, converged for another 12-day Learning Express (LeX) Program. This is part of SP’s general educational program which aims to identify the unmet needs in the lives of the people in chosen communities. The program started on September 17, 2018 and lasted on the 28th.

As part of the program, the students together with their facilitators spent three days in the chosen communities of Barangay Sawang in Lobo, Barangay Mayuro in Rosario and Barangay Poctol in San Juan, Batangas. They were divided into three groups, each tasked to conduct a series of interviews, brainstorm ideas, and create solutions to the problems of the communities assigned to them.

BATSTATEU ACTIVITIES WITH INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS 2017

 BATSTATEU, SOUTH KOREAN UNIVERSITIES AND GLOBAL KOREAN NURSING FOUNDATION FORGE PARTNERSHIP ON NURSING AND HEALTH CARE EDUCATION PROGRAM

BatStateU, South Korean Universities and Global Korean Nursing Foundation signed a memorandum of agreement on Nursing and Health Care Education Program last January 11, 2017, during a meeting organized by the College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences and Extension Services Office. The collaboration was forged to conduct an international exchange program for the Korean nursing students.

The exchange program shall be a means for valuable exchange of knowledge and technologies, outreach programs, and other related activities that will benefit people in chosen communities.

 

 

OCEAN UNIVERSITY OF CHINA FORGES COLLABORATION WITH BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY

Delegates from Ocean University of China paid a visit to Batangas State University on April 18, 2017 to discuss possible collaboration and tie ups. As discussed, the partnership will focus on promoting Chinese language and culture through cultural exchange programs.

The visit also opened opportunities for research studies on marine biodiversity.

 

Rotary club of batangas

The Rotary Club of Batangas sent a Vocational Exchange Team from Australia to Batangas State University on February 15-18, 2017to conduct seminars, class observations and develop professional relationships with the academic community. The team was composed of Mr. Michael J. Lapiña, Team Leader, Ms. Amanda Argyros, Education Admin and Tech, Ms. Alana McIntosh, Educator, Ms. Agnieszka Kosidlo, Audiologist, and Ms. Emily Brown, Leadership Performance Coach.

 

SINGAPORE POLYTECHNIC – LEARNING EXPRESS PROGRAM

Singapore Polytechnic (SP) invited Batangas State University to be a partner in a Social Innovation Project (SIP) named Learning Express – Batangas in partnership with the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC). LeX projects aim to help three (3) local communities so that their local needs shall be addressed through the outcomes or solutions conceived by the LeX Batangas.

BatStateU LeX Team composed of Dr. Vanessah V. Castillo, Engr. Edzel M. Gamab, Dr. Romel U. Briones and Asst. Prof. Armando V. Mendoza, Jr., attended a three day Design Thinking Seminar-Workshop on April 4 to 7, 2017 at Singapore Polytechnic.

 

PARTNERSHIP MEETING WITH UNIVERSITY OF TRANSPORT TECHNOLOGY, VIETNAM

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, Deputy Head of the Department of Science and Technology and International Cooperation, University of Transport Technology of Vietnam, visited Batangas State University to discuss possible academic collaboration between the universities. UTT- Hanoi sees possible collaboration on Research and Extension, Intensive English Training for its lecturers, twinning program, and exchange programs for students and faculty members.

Student Internship Abroad Program in Thai Nguyen University

As part of its vision of becoming an internationally-recognized institution of higher learning, Batangas State University sent its Secondary Education students to Thai Nguyen University, Vietnam on May 26-29, 2016 as part of the Student Internship Abroad Program. A total number of 22 students from various campuses took part in the program: six from the main campus, six from Rosario campus, four from San Juan campus, and six from Nasugbu campus.

Engr. Edzel Gamab, Director for External Affairs and Mr. Kristoffer Conrad Tejada, an English teacher— the chaperones— attended a meeting with TNU officials to further discuss details on the existing partnership. Opportunities for another partnership in the future were also discussed during the meeting.

Su-Seongu delegates visit BatStateU

Delegates from Su-Seongu, South Korea visited Batangas State University on July 22, 2016 to explore areas for a possible collaboration. University President Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, Director for External Affairs Engr. Edzel M. Gamab and Director for Integrated School Assoc. Prof. Vilma R. Aguda, welcomed the participants during the meeting held at the Conference Room, International Affairs Office, CITE Buidling, BatStateU Pablo Borbon Main I, Batangas City.

 

Intensive English Program for Inje University Students

 15 students of Inje University, South Korea have undergone an Intensive English Program in Batangas State University on December 21, 2015- February 12, 2016. Asst. Prof. Joanalyn Estioco, Dr. Amada Banaag and Mr. Kristoffer Conrad Tejada taught the students various listening, speaking, reading and writing skills relative to their fields of specialization at the university. As part of the program, students were all endorsed for their on-the-job training at the City Government of Batangas and Batangas State University.

Filipino-Korean Student Exchange Program with Dongwon Middle School, South Korea

Ten of Batangas State University’s Integrated School students visited Dongwon Middle School, South Korea on August 28 to September 3, 2016 for a student exchange program. Said program gave students the opportunity to learn and experience the history and culture of South Korea allowing them to enrich personal growth and development. This was made possible thru the initiative and support of Suseong-hu Office of Daegu Metropolotan City, South Korea.

In June 2010, BatStateU and Dongwon Middle School entered into a memorandum of agreement to promote cultural understanding thru the conduct of cultural and educational exchange programs. Since then, a total of six batches have undergone the said programs.

 

BatStateU Signs MOU with Dongshin University- College of Oriental Medicine, South Korea

Batangas State University and Dongshin University- College of Oriental Medicine, South Korea signed a memorandum of understanding on June 14, 2016. The collaboration focuses on conducting health researches and implementation of various health programs in three chosen elementary schools in Batangas City namely: Batangas City East Elementary School, Julian A. Pastor Memorial Elementary School and Talahib Pandayan Elementary School. University President Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, VP for Research Development and Extension Dr. Erma B. Quinay and Dean of the College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences Ms. Charmaine I. Triviño led the partnership meeting.
